Pulses have low water footprints. Water footprints or beef is 43 times higher than pulses . Pulses etract  water from a shallower depth, leaving more water deep in the soil for following years crop. It also has low carbon footprints . Study shows 1 kg pulses only emit 0.5 kg of CO2 where as 1 kg beef produces 9.5 kg of CO2.
