Social Media, today has a very important role in the society. It can be both destructive as well as constructive. It all depends on how the people in the society use it. There are many ways to stay connected to the world using various media platforms like- Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, News, etc.
Social media has both pros & cons. Firstly, speaking of the pros- it develops better social skills, people learn to socialize themselves & become open both themselves & to the ideas of people. It helps in removing isolation. Many youths nowadays are in a situation of being alone, but social media is such a thing, from which no one can go anywhere.
We can also make new bonds of friendship, expand our ideas & reach the people out of our comfort zones. We get to be more creative in ideas & implementation. They also keep us connected to the outside word. We can also develop good reading, writing & critical thinking skills. The information also travels real quick in around seconds & make us aware of our surrondings. It can be used wisely.
Entering into the cons- The main drawback would he that nowadays the youth stay only connected with the social media & slowly becomes disconnected to the actual world outside & their families. Also while sharing some valuable & confidential information it may get leaked or accounts get hacked, therefore it may cause severe security issues.
Also nowadays since Whatsapp is the most widely used social media platform, the fake news travels faster than the original one. People may also get bullied as we see by sharing about themselves to anonymous people & also it may leave an impact on the health of users. Too much use of social medias may strain eyes, bring lack of sleep & many health disorders.
Therefore, Social media can be used both wisely & unwisely. It all depends on how it is used. As per me, in terms or marketing & advertising it can be used in its best possible way, but when it comes to adolescents it becomes difficult to decided, all depends on how wisely 'we' use it.
