Social media, as an element of the "Media" which stands as the fourth pillar of the government, act like vehicles in communicating ideas, opinions, ideologies, emotion-based campaigns, community-interest based propaganda and especially the government's plans, programmes and policies for the bettwerment and upliftment of the people in need and act like channels in transgressing change by invoking the intellects of millions by just a click. Social media act like a catayst in influencing public opinion and play a vital role in shaping or reshaping public trust in this globalised world. Amidst all technological adavancement and liberalisation of digital communication policy, any person can act as a freelancer and can potentially act to influence any thought process and channelise that into the mainstream thinking of the society by altering the society at large from all topographical and psychographical aspects. Hpwever, due vigilance and scrutiny must be had to any information gathered from social media as it may act diabolical at times. Caution and supervision shall be beneficial in redirecting social media to influence public opinion in a proactive perspective.
