The middle class working women of India with all her aspirations has felt the impact of patriarchy in more ways than one:

1. A working women is seen as someone who is breaking the abstract rules and going against the tradition. She is ill-treated in her family and is provided reasons to not work unless it is absolutely necessary over and above her own aspirations.

2. Glass ceiling is a real obstacle in her growth. The patriarchal mindset cannot accept a women at authoritative positions.

3. Objectifying her makes her vulnerable to eve-teasing, violence and molestation on streets. This was recently seen in the Bangaluru incident where women were molested in the New year eve party.

4. Masculinity of men is conditioned over years to not accept a women as a decision maker in family on financial matters. This type of domestic ambiance becomes toxic and results in domestic violence, divorce and suicide attempts.

5. Working women is under a constant threat of being questioned on her character as she progresses in her field of expertise. Sexual assaults at work against women has increased in most modern urban workplaces.

6. Dual responsibility at home and workplace leads to increased burden as she is still most of the time not given any assistance in her domestic life.
