On March 16, 2010 thousands of people from Delhi participated in the 'Meri Dilli Meri Yamuna' project to clean the river. There were special workshops attended by 2150 children. They were motivated to participate in MDMY.

In December 2014, a large number of youth in Delhi voluntarily took part in the Yamuna Shramdaan to clean the highly polluted river Yamuna which is the lifeline for 60 million people. The event was organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and other organizations, in response to the call of the Prime Minister to volunteer for a Swacch Bharat or Clean India.

Youth and children can help in creating awareness among people regarding the need to keep the river clean. They can write articles, give speeches, organize teams, stage skits and plays to show the importance of the river and the need to save it. On weekends they can get together and clean the surroundings of the river. Make and put posters near the river to keep it clean.

In this way youth and children can play an important role in preserving river Yamuna.
