during mugal period a zamindar in indian subcontinent was an aristocrat. Zamindar is a persian word which means landowner. During the mugal period zamindars were considered as nobels . Their importance during that period was proper collection of taxes and also as they were landlords the provide loan to people also provided employment to them. Some times some zamindars also opposed kings and revolt against them
