Answer:
when an object rolls over the surface of an other it is known as rolling friction and when an object is at rest it exhibits static friction. so when when an object starts rolling the irregularities do not have enough time to interlock . so this means a smaller force is needed to keep the object moving compared to the force needed to move it from rest.this is why rolling friction is less than static friction

Rolling friction:
- Rolling friction is the force of friction between the rolling object object and surface .
Static friction:
- Static friction is a force that hinders the movement of an object moving along the path. When two fabrics slide over each other, this friction occurs.
Difference between rolling and static friction:
- Rolling friction is always less than static friction because in order for an object to roll the force of friction between it and surface must be large enough to keep the object from sliding. Hence rolling friction is always greater than static force.
