Let as assume that root 2 is a rational no

Take root 2 is equal to a/b because co-prime

Now square on both sides

√2=a/b

√2²=a²\b²

√2²b²=a²

b²=a²/2

So, a is also divisible by 2

Now

2b=c

2b²=c²

b²=c²/2

So,c is also divisible by2

Therefore 2 is the common factor of a&b because of co-prime

So, it is an contridiction

So, √2 is an irrational no
