Multiplying (1) by 8 and (2) by 3 and subtracting (1) from (2); we obtain,

16x - 24y - 9x + 24y = 0

or, 7x = 0

or, x = 0

Substituting the value of x in (1) we get;

-3y = 0

or, y = 0

Hence x = y = 0.
