Roots of the plant can respire more efficiently in ploughed soil than water logged soil as while ploughing, the soil gets aerated and a lot of air enters the soil. While, in water logged soil, there will be no air and only water. Hence, the plant can breathe or respire more efficiently in ploughed soil
