Rosa Parks was born on February 4, 1913 in Alabama, in the USA. She was an American activist and came to be known as the first lady of Civil Rights and the mother of the freedom movement'. (The civil rights movement was started to achieve equality for African-Americans in America between 1954 and 1968. During this time, Black people in America were treated differently from white people and did not enjoy the same privileges. On December 1, 1955, after a long day at work, Rosa boarded the Montgomery bus. She paid her bus fare and sat on a seat that was empty. When a white person boarded the bus and didn't have a seat she was asked to give up her seat for the white person.
