Roselyn is driving to visit her family, which live 150150150 kilometers away. Her average speed is 606060 kilometers per hour. The car's tank has 202020 liters of fuel at the beginning of the drive, and its fuel efficiency is 666 kilometers per liter. Fuel costs 0.600.600, point, 60 dollars per liter.

Concept

We know that distance is equal to speed multiplied by time. But here time is not given, only the initial quantity of fuel and distance covered by 1 liter fuel. Therefore we will just multiply the quantity of fuels available initially by the distance covered per liter of fuel and then we will get the total distance covered by the net fuel available initially.

Given

Average speed, s=60 km/h

Total fuel = 20 liters

Efficiency = 6 km/liter

Fuel cost = $60 /liter

Find

We have to calculate the distance covered by Roselyn with 20 liters of fuel.

Solution

Since, the distance covered by 1 liter of fuel = 6 km

Therefore, the distance covered by 20 liters of fuel =6 km * (20 liters/1 liter)

=120 km

Hence the distance covered by Roselyn before she runs out of the fuel will be 120 km.
