The combined use of the method of Medium Exchange and a platinum electrode covered by a thin mercury film significantly extends the range of applications of anodic stripping volt-ammetry. A thin nickel film, interposed between the platinum and the mercury, improves the keeping qualities of the mercury film and facilitates its electro-deposition. The new technique, among whose advantages increased sensitivity and convenience may be cited, provides a further stepping stone towards the adaptation of anodic stripping for use in the routine analysis of complex samples.
