2.8962

As we have to round it to nearest whole number, consider the number next to '2' which is '8'.

As '8' is greater than 5, we will add 1 to the number left of '8' which is '2'.

So,
Your answer will be,
= 3.0000
= 3

2.8962 should be rounded off to the nearest whole number,

So we should consider the number which is after the decimal point (.) that is we should consider 8. Since 8 is greater than 5 we must add to the number which before the decimal point (.) that is 2.

Thus,
2 + 1 = 3 [which is the nearest whole number of 2.8962]
