Rules of rounding of numbers are as follows :-

1.) If the digit to be rounded off is less than 5 then the preceding digit remains the same. Example:- 74 becomes 70.

2.) If the digit to be rounded off is equal to 5 then the preceding digit increases by one. Example:- 75 becomes 80.

3.) If the digit to be rounded off is more than 5 then the preceding digit is increased by one. Example:- 78 becomes 80.

Here we have 874 + 478 = 1352

1352 - 5 is equal to 5 hence the preceding digit hence the preceding digit i.e. 3 will increase by one.

The rounded off digit is 1400.
