140 is the right answer because firstly he bought share of 150 than 2 shares of 125 each it means it spend 400 ruppes to buy three shares. Then he sold all of three shares at 180 ruppes each it means it sell them for 540 ruppes. he spend 400 to buy them then sold them at 540 ruppes when we subtract them the answer will be 140 ruppes

Answer: Total profit made is Rs. 140

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : 1 share of xyz stock was bought in Rs. 150,

Reduced price of 2 more stocks Rs. 125 per share

Selling price of all 3 stocks is Rs. 180 per share.

To Find : Total profit made by Roy

Concept : Total profit = Selling price - Cost price

Profit is the extra gain that is left after subtracting all the

                 expenditure from selling price.

Solution :

Initial cost price of 1 share = 150

Reduced cost price of two more share = 2 * 125 = Rs. 250

∴ Total cost price of all three shares = 150 + 250  = Rs. 400

Selling price of 1 share = Rs. 180

∴ Selling price of all 3 shares = Rs. 180 * 3 = Rs. 540

∴ Total profit made = Selling price - Cost price

                                = Rs. (540 - 400 )   = Rs. 140

∴ Total profit made = Rs. 140
