It is given that the amount of Rs. 4750 is divided between a, b and c only.

Let the share of a be Rs A. ... ( 1 )

According to the question, share of b is 9 / 10 of the share of a i.e. Rs A.

Therefore,

= > Share of b = 9 / 10 x Share of a

= > Share of b = 9 / 10 x Rs A

= > Share of b = Rs 9A / 10. ... ( 2 )

Given : Share of c is 1 / 4 of the total share of a and b.

Thus,

= > Share of c = 1 / 4 ( share of a + share of b )

= > Share of c = 1 / 4 ( Rs A + Rs 9A / 10 )

= > Share of c = 1 / 4 x ( Rs 10A + Rs 9A ) / 10

= > Share of c = Rs 19A / 40 ...( 3 )

Since the divided parts are of Rs 4750, there sum must be equal to Rs 4750.

= > Share of a + share of b + share of c = Rs 4750

Substituting values from ( 1 ) & ( 2 ) & ( 3 ) :

= > Rs A + Rs 9A / 10 + Rs 19A / 40 = Rs 4750

= > A + 9A / 10 + 19A / 40 = 4750

= > ( 40 A + 36A + 19A ) / 40 = 4750

= > 95A / 40 = 4750

= > A = 4750 / 95 x 40

= > A = 50 x 40

= > A = 2000

Hence the required share of a is Rs 2000.{ Since the value of a is 2000 }. \:

pravikash: but they asked the share of a you answered in Rs
abhi569: yes. i have assumed the share as Rs a { in Rs }. Since, a is 500, Rs is Rs 500
pravikash: oh ok
abhi569: wait for few minutes. i think, there is a correction
pravikash: hmm ok
abhi569: Done. Share of a = Rs 2000.
