Answer:

A. Was the poet pretending to be someone else ? Explain.

Yes, the poet was pretending to be ‘great’. He was always told by the people around him that he was the greatest player and could easily prove himself when playing with anyone else. This made him overconfident and wear a coat of pretense.

B. Why does he decide to be himself ?

He decides to be himself as he finds it better to accept his own flaws and mistakes rather than pretending to be someone great.

C. How does this decision affect his life ?

This decision of being himself helps him make his play better, improve himself and stop being overconfident. This decision also helps him grow up as a better human being.

Just Me by Tom Krause is a poem on self realization. It reveals that one should accept their flaws and weaknesses rather than blaming others for their own mistake. The poet conveys how he used to live in an illusion initially , but soon his conscience made him realize that one should admit  and work on their own flaws . This makes him happy and content to be free of that illusion he was living in, and he decides to be JUST himself!
