Given :

  • Rubina had 18 m 50 cm long cloth. She cut 5.80 m from it to make curtains.

To Find :

  • How much cloth is left with her.

Solution :

In this question, the dimensions are not equal. So firstly we will make the dimensions same after that we will substract the cloth needed to make the curtain from the total length of the cloth to find the length of the cloth left with her.

Making the Dimensions same :

  • Total length of the Cloth = 18m 50cm
  • Total length of the Cloth = (18 × 100 + 50) cm
  • Total length of the Cloth = (1800 + 50) cm
  • Total length of the Cloth = 1850cm

  • Length used in curtain = 5.80m
  • Length used in curtain = (5.80 × 100) cm
  • Length used in curtain = 582cm

Finding the length of the cloth left :

  • Cloth left = Total Length - Length used
  • Cloth left = (1850 - 582) cm
  • Cloth left = 1268cm

Therefore :

  • Length of the Cloth left with her is 1268cm
