Rule of addition and subtraction " the result cannot have more digits to the right of the decimal point than either of the original numbers."
For example: if we add 6.65+0.895= 7.545
and if we do subtract 2.5-0.48= 2.02
Meaning to say that if we are adding or subtracting we can't put more digits after the original no. if 2.02 is the answer we can't extend it to make it a 4 or 5 significant figure if it is 2.02 then it will be 2.02 only

5 added to 4 is nine
5- 4 = 1
4 can't minus five as four is a smaller number.
