Rule of Present Perfect Tense:

The present tense refers to the aspect of the verb which is doing some action now. Present perfect tense shows that the action has been going on for a long time. The rule for present perfect tense is to use have or has and the ‘past participle’ of the verb.  Subject + has/have + verb + Object is a rule of present perfect tense.

For example: I have known you for a long time. Here have known is the ‘present perfect tense’. Known is the ‘past participle’ form of the verb used.
