I before E,
Except after C, unless it sounds like A -
EXAMPLE - neighbour or weigh.

EXCEPT AFTER C -
EXAMPLE-received

learning this rule is beneficial for you. the rule is:
I before E except after C, or when sounding like AY.

" I before E.. = when the sound of the word is in e, write ie.
eg: belief, chief, brief.

"except after C.. = When the e sound comes after an S sound.
eg: deceive, ceiling, conceive.

"or sounding like AY = when the word sounds like AY use ei.
eg: weigh , neighbour, vein.

but here are exceptions, like: friend , height, ancient .
