  • No, not, never, neihter, nor, nothing and none are the seven negative words.

  • If the sentence contains one of the above negative words, it is called a negative sentence.

  • On the other hand, if it does not have any of these words, it is called an affirmative sentence.

Points to consider when Affirmative sentence to Negative sentence.

  • While changing an affirmative sentence to a negative sentence, use one one of the above give negative words, but do not change the meaning of the sentence. Use antonyms where required.

Example :

1) I hate chocolates.

⇝I do not like chocolates.

2) Shilpa is always late.

⇝ Shilpa is never on time.

Points to consider when changing Negative sentence to Affirmative sentence :

  • While changing a negative sentence to an affirmative one, Remove the given negative word, but do not change the meaning of the sentence.

  • Use words like refuse, fail to, unable, without, in absence of, hardly, unwilling,avoid, etc. Even antonyms can be used.

Example :

1) Chirag is not able to swim.

⇝Chirag is unable to swim.

2) I like neither tea nor coffee.

⇝I dislike both tea and coffee.
