ruminants such as cows first take food and then chews just enough to moisten the food and once swallowed it goes to first chamber ,rumen there it mixes with other acids and digestive juices to soften and digest the food partially , this softened food is called cud , then after chewing it more finely , it is passed onto omasum for further mechanical processes , then it is finally sent to abomasum where the enzyme lysosome breaks the bacteria to release nutrients
