Given : Rupees 18210 is invested in three schemes. A, B and C for 5 years, 8 years and 4 years respectively. If these three schemes give a simple interest of 12%, 10% and 12.5% respectively. After completion of each scheme a person gets  amount in the ratio 3:7:4 from these schemes.

To Find : the sum of money invested in scheme C?

Solution:

Amount invested in B =  100B

Amount invested in C  =  100C

Amount invested in A  =  18210 - 100B - 100C

Amount received in A = (18210 - 100B - 100C) + (5* 12/100)( 18210 - 100B - 100C)

=  (18210 - 100B - 100C) (1.6)

= (29,136 - 160B - 160C)

Amount received in B = 100B  + ( 8 * 10/100)100B

= 180B

Amount received in C = 100C  + ( 4 * 12.5/100)100C

= 150C

(29,136 - 160B - 160C)  : 180B : 150C   = 3 :  7  :  4

29,136 - 160B - 160C = 3K

180B   = 7k

150C = 4k

=> 180B/150C = 7/4

=> 6B/5C = 7/4

=> 24B = 35C

3k + 4k = 7k

29,136 - 160B - 160C  + 150C  = 180B

=> 29,136  = 340B  + 10C

=> 29,136  = 340(35C/24) + 10C

=> 29,136 * 24  =  12,140C

=> C = 57.6

=> 100C = 5760

the sum of money invested in scheme C  = 5760 Rs
