Rutherford concluded from the α-particle scattering experiment that– (i) Most of the space inside the atom is empty because most of the α-particles passed through the gold foil without getting deflected. (ii) Very few particles were deflected from their path, indicating that the positive charge of the atom occupies very little space. (iii) A very small fraction of α-particles were deflected by 1800,indicating that all the positive charge and mass of the gold atom were concentrated in a very small volume within the atom.

Q-24. Which of the following statements is incorrect about the structure of an atom ? (i). The whole mass of an atom is concentrated in the nucleus (ii). The atom is an indivisible particle. (iii). The atom as a whole is neutral (iv) All the atoms are stable in their basic state. Choose the right option among the following: *
a) (i) and (iii)
(b) only (ii)
(c) (ii) and (iv)
(d) none of these

Answer:

no i we cant say that the whole mass of an atom is concentrated in the nucleus electrons too are a part of an atom negligible but they constitute some mass of the atom

ii also is incorrect as it is further divided into protons, neutrons and electrons.

well i considerit to be none of these
