Explanation:

1/R1 = (1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3)

1/R1 = 1

⇒ R1 = 1Ω

⇒ R2 = 5Ω

⇒ 1/R3 = ¼ + 1/6 = 10/24

⇒ R3  = 24/10 Ω                  

∴ Equivalent resistance

Req. = R1  + R2  + R3 = 1 + 5 + 24/10

R = 8.4 Ω
