(b) Pancreas secretes insulin. Insulin helps to lower the blood glucose level. When it is secreted in less amount, the body suffers from diabetes, as more and more glumse accumulates in the body. So, to reduce the level of glucose in the blood of the diabetes patients, they are provided with insulin injections

♤ Insulin plays an important role in sugar metabolism. In some patients of diabetes , insulin secretion is reduced.

♤ Insulin injection is given to such patients to compensate for reduced insulin secretion in the body.

♤ Such cases of diabetes are called Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus ( IDDM ).
