Mrs. Oakentubb got the punishment for her deeds by getting killed by the man whose wife and daughter she had killed.

  • Mrs. Oakentubb was a woman of cruel character. She enjoyed the company of bad characters. She was mean, cunning, and deceitful.
  • She had killed a woman and her daughter by turning her car to the footpath as she had lost control of her car, and she wanted to save her own life and did not care about theirs.
  • She gets a punishment of only 18 months as she was a resourceful woman.
  • The man whose wife and daughter she had killed meets her alone in a waiting room on a stormy night. They both recognize each other but the man's heart softens by her deceitful story.
  • As the man leaves the room she makes faces at his back putting a finger in her nose.
  • The man returns back as the door reopens and sees her making those expressions and kills her with his revolver, and thus she gets the punishment she deserved.
