Given : s is directly proportional to √t and s = 30 when t = 36.

To Find  :  the constant of variation and equation of variation

Solution:

s is directly proportional to √t

=> s ∝  √t

=> s = k √t

Where k is the constant of variation:

s = 30 when t = 36.

=> 30 = k √36

=> 30 = k (6)

=> k = 5

constant of variation:  is 5

=> s = 5√t

equation of variation s = 5√t
