Stanley Lloyd Miller (March 7, 1930 – May 20, 2007), an eminent American chemist is credited with landmark experiments explaining the origin of life.

He penned the book "The Origins of Life on the Earth" and explained the theory of abiogenesis in detail,  the natural occurrence of clathrate hydrates, and general mechanisms of action of anesthesia.

He was also elected to the US National Academy of Science in 1973. He was also nominated for Nobel Prize more than once, but never won any in reality.
