2 / √ X = - 7
√X = 2 / -7

here the ans is....

2/√x+ 3/√y =2    equ....1
4/√x +9/√y=-1    equ...2
  let 1/√x=p and 1/√y=q
putting this in equ..1 and 2,we get..
     2p+3q=2       equ....3
     4p-9q= -1      equ...4
multiplying equ 3 by equ 2 and subtracting it from equ 4,we get...
4p-9q+1-2(2p+3q-2)=0
4p-9q+1-4p-6q+4=0
-15q+5=0
q=-5/-15  
  =1/3
∴the value of q is 1/3..

putting the value of q in equ 3 ,we get...
2p+1=2
2p=1
p=1/2

putting the values of p and q in (1/√x=p and 1/√y=q), we get..
1/√x=1/2  and  1/√y=1/3
1/x=1/4    and  1/y=1/3
x=4      and  y=9

∴the values of x and y are x=4
                                           y=9
