well, i was finding this question since a long time, even i loved to know about it! thanks for asking it!

let me try to answer it!

Answer:

What are dreams?

Dreams are just the stories, that our mind creates while we are sleeping. Its usually all over the imagination. Dreams can be good as well as bad (called nightmares). When we are stressed, or just thinking about some particular thing, we see it in our dream. For example, if i am thinking about the next exam, i will just see the exam/ question paper in my dream, because thats what was in my mind.

Nightmares can be caused of:

  • stress
  • fear
  • illness
  • emotional problems.

lucid dreams are the dreams in which you know that you're dreaming. it is a state between rapid eye movement sleep and being awaken.

Why do we dream?

No one knows for sure but some theories suggests that dreaming is the way in which brain processes the emotions.

What are the functions of our brain while we are dreaming?

well, our brain is active even during we are dreaming. the limbic system in mid-brain deals with emotions, waking and dreaming, and also associated with fear. The cortex is mainly responsible for the content of the dream.

hope my answer is helpful to you!
