Well, I would say this question is truly false. How could anyone use stastistics if he/she doesn't know the formulas which are needed there. Let's understand this topic carefully.
• Ideologies of People ::
This question has been doubt of many students who want to be future entrepreneur or businessman/businesswoman. They think that its not necessary for them to learn formulas because even if they took commerce stream they have to study different other subjects like English and computer (as optional). Goal intentioned students even try to think this as a burden. They just think of achieving their goal that is starting up or running up a business. Their main aim is to just learn about money. Even these type students develop a mentality of earning money and their mindset becomes narrow for this. They try to have business mind in every field of their life even where it is not necessary. Although, its necessary for every student to understand that being money minded will help in only professional field that too not everytime but being money minded won't at all help in being a good student. Student's think that in school they should be learnt to start business and mkae money but they forget that if school's start teaching this, then they would develop this in their habit.
• Real - Life Situation ::
School's have the aim to make students better in every field of life even it be professional or life skills. Let's understand this by an example. We know that students of maths, whether be of commerce or science stream have to learn stastistics which is lot beneficial in their life. Stastistics helps to determine the probability, estimation and result of the data whether it be professional like money analysis and in real life like determining character of a group of people. Similarly learning formulas of grammar in English help us to communicate in a better way with major audience so that we cab have a good impression on them. And for running a business or industry, we need to have good impression over people so that our business runs properly. That is why a seperate branch of mathematics is made known as Statistical Mathematics which is done mostly by Charted Accountants to have a better way to deal up with life. We can compare this with other subjects taught in school. All have same motive to make students excel in the fieldd by studying formulas. Formulas are not made to be used in papers only. They aren't like bookish knowledge. Formulas are derived from life experiences only. If we look back at derivation or every formula, there must be a common incident which happens in life so that the formula is applicable there. For example, we all know about Limits (mathematics). This formula is made to determine the situation when the case is of little less or little more than the given situation.
