We take example and understand with this Question

QUESTION:- S=ut+1/2at^2 u=10, a=-2, t=1/2 work out the value of s

Given -

u = 10 m/s

a = -2 m/s²

t = 0.5 s

To Find -

Value of s ?

Solution -

s = ut + ½at²

Substituting the values,

⇒ s = 10*0.5 + ½*-2*(0.5)²

⇒ s = 5 + (-0.25)

⇒ s = 5 - 0.25

⇒ s = 4.75 m

Hence, Value of s = 4.75 m.

Some Additional Information -

Three equations of motion -

v = u + at

s = ut + ½at²

v² - u² = 2as
