Given:-

  • Distance travelled by train 'A' (d₁) = 120km

  • Time taken (t₁) = 3hrs

  • Distance travelled by train'B' (d₂) = 180km

  • Time taken (t₂) = 4hrs

To Find:-

  • Which train travelled faster .

Solution:-

  • As we know that

  • → Speed = Distance/Time

  • Speed For train 'A'

  • → S = d/t

  • → S₁ = d₁/t₁

Substitute the value we get

  • → S₁ = 120/3

  • → S₁ = 40km/h --------------------(i)

∴ The speed of train 'A' is 40km/h

Now ,

  • Speed For Train 'B'

  • → S₂ = d₂/t₂

  • → S₂ = 180/4

  • → S₂ = 45km/h -------------------------(ii)

  • ∴ The speed of train 'B' is 45km/h

Comparing equation (i) & (ii) we get

  • The speed of train'B' is higher than the speed of train 'A'

∴ The Train 'B' travelled faster
