S waves or transverse waves

Sound waves are not transversal waves, they are longitudianal waves.
Their wave motion (a preassure difference) is parallel to the propagation direction, which means they are longitudinal. A transversal wave would oscillate perpendicularly to the propagation direction, as in most electromagnetic waves (longitudinal electromagnetic waves are possible), but this is not the case for sound.
hope helps ☺️☺️
