S1 and S2 are two hollow concentric spheres enclosing charges Q and 2Q respectively as shown in the figure. (i) What is the ratio of the electric flux through S1 and S2? (ii) How will the electric flux through the sphere S1 change, if a medium of dielectric constant 5 is introduced in the space inside S2 in place of air ?

As , electric flux= q/Enot
total charge enclose by s1 = q
therefore electric flux (s1)=q/Enot
and total charge enclosed by s2= q+ 2q =3q
therefore electric flux (s2)=3q/Enot
electric flux(s2)/electric flux(s3)=3:1
