एखादा अभंग-
‘पंढरीचा राजा उभा भक्त काजा।
उभारूनि भुजा वाट पाहे’
घ्या रे नाम सुखे प्रेमे अलौकिक।
साधने आणिक करू नका॥
मनाचेनि मने हृदयी मज धरा।
वाचेने उच्चारा नाम माझे।
बोलोनिया ऐसा उभा भीमातीरी।
नामा निरंतरी चरणाशी॥
Namdev was a pre-eminent theological poet from Maharashtra state and was one the pioneering composers in the Marathi language. Since childhood, Namdev was an enthusiastic follower of Vithoba like his progenitors. He also composed some songs in the Hindi and the Punjabi languages throughout his stay in Punjab. The village which was titled after him is now in Pakistan's Punjab. Sixty-one of his writings are incorporated inside Sikhism's holy scripture, the Guru Granth Sahib.
