A departmental store sells items costing 3,65,740 per day. How much
amount does the store collect in the month of October consider the
store remains closed on every Sunday?
There are 12 floors in each building where each floor of the building
is fitted with 68 windows. If there are 24 such buildings, calculate the
total number of windows fitted in these buildings.

Multiplying by 9, 99, 999, 101, 1001 and so on
To multiply a number by 9, we multiply the number by 10 and from the
product, subtract the number (multiplicand). To multiply a number by
99, we multiply the number by 100 and from the product subtract the
number. The process goes on for large numbers too.
Examples:
1. 5,048 x 999 = 5,048 (1,000 - 1)
= (5,048 x 1,000) - (5,048 x 1)
= 50,48,000 - 5,048
= 50,42,952

Multiplying by 9, 99, 999, 101, 1001 and so on

To multiply a number by 9, we multiply the number by 10 and from the

product, subtract the number (multiplicand). To multiply a number by

99, we multiply the number by 100 and from the product subtract the

number. The process goes on for large numbers too.

Examples:

1. 5,048 x 999 = 5,048 (1,000 - 1)

= (5,048 x 1,000) - (5,048 x 1)

= 50,48,000 - 5,048

= 50,42,952
