Plants give out carbon dioxide not only at night but during the day too. It happens because of the process of respiration in which plants take in oxygen and give out carbon dioxide. As soon as the sun rises another process called photosynthesis starts, in which carbon dioxide is taken in and oxygen is given out.

Explanation:
- Photosynthesis is the process in which oxygen is released by the plant in the presence of sunlight. So oxygen is released by the plants in the day time.
- Respiration is the process in which carbohydrate is broken down in CO2 and H2O and CO2 is released in the atmosphere. Respiration occurs both day and night so CO2 is released by plants during day and night both.
- Some plats like peepal can release oxygen in the night also because they have the ability to perform Crassulacean Acid Metabolism which is a type of photosynthesis.
