WB Govt. initiated scheme titled "Sabooj Sathi" for distribution of bi-cycles to students of class IX to XII in Govt. run/ Govt. aided or Govt. sponsored schools.  

Students of those classes as covered in pre financial year (2015-16).  

Students of Class IX shall be covered in present financial year where aim is covering more/less 40 lakh students in WB.  

Objective of scheme is encouraging students in degree educations and reducing drop outs.  

West Bengal SC/ST Development & Finance Corporation had announced as nodal agency for procurement and distribution of bi-cycles.
