Sachin Tendulkar
Sachin Tendulkar, also known as The Little Master', is counted amongst the world's
greatest batsmen of all times. Fans call him The God of Cricket'. As a child, he showed
extraordinary talent in cricket and was predicted to join the league of greatest
cricketers ever
Tendulkar was born in 1973, in Mumbai (then Bombay), India. Named after a famous
music director, Sachin was not particularly brilliant in studies. He got his first bat at the
age of 11 from his brother Ajit. That was when he started playing cricket. He joined a
local cricket club and would practice for hours. His coach would put a one-rupee coin
on the top of the stumps and challenge the other young bowlers to dismiss Sachin and
earn the coin, a feat very few were able to achieve. Sachin has now retired from active
cricket, but he still treasures those 13 coins, which he considers to be his most prized
possession!
Tendulkar was just 16 when he became India's youngest Test cricketer. He was also a
part of the Indian Cricket team which lifted the Cricket World Cup in 2011.
