Lakshmibai (her actual name was Manikarnika) is known as the Rani of Jhansi. Her sacrifices for her motherland are the following:

1. Her ambition was to get India free from the British rule and she chose the policy of fighting with the British rule. She considered it to be her ethical responsibility to struggle for the freedom of her enslaved Motherland.

2. She led the revolt of 1857 in Jhansi against the annexation policy of British rule.

3. To defense Jhansi from the attacks of the British army she developed a force of rebellions, women were also a part of this force.
