In reference to the chapter, The Lost Spring it can be said that Saheb and Mukesh are brothers in penury and suffering because both of them were in same condition of poverty and tribulations.

Saheb was one of the rag pickers of Seemapuri who faced tremendous scarcity due to his poor background. At very young age of childhood he was denoted towards the rag picking from garbage bins. The only dream in his eyes was to go to school but this dream was just in vain. Poverty just made him a wage earner with his parents.

In the similar way, Mukesh also faced penury and sufferings. He belonged to a bangle maker family of Firozabad. People spent their generations in front of hot furnaces. The eyes of children were more comfortable in dark working in dingy cells rather than sunlight. They used to work in front of hot furnaces for whole day. Mukesh wanted to break this God given lineage as he dreamt to become a car machinist. But for fulfilment of his dream he would had to become determined.
