By working as a labour , he has lost his freedom. He is no longer the king of his own world . He blindly follows his master's orders . But he is getting his salary . So he can live a comfortable life.
If he would have been a ragpicker , then he would be poor. He would have to struggle for sustainance . But he would have been his own master. There would be no one to control him or order him. He would live life to his own wish. But he would have to suffer a lot and might not get food to eat .
So , when the question of sustainance comes , he has done the better job by working at tea stall , even if at the cost of his freedom .
