Sahil reads a newspaper that 4 people died due to a fireplace in the closed room. The gas is mainly produced due to the fireplace, which will be carbon monoxide (CO). So here the answer will be:-

(4) Carbon Monoxide

On combining with haemoglobin, carbon monoxide forms a stable compound carboxyhaemoglobin. Because of this compound, haemoglobin cannot carry sufficient O2, for this reason people died.

Reason behind the death of people in a fireplace

Explanation:

  • Fire produces carbon monoxide gas which is one of  very harmful and toxic gas. Our body has hemoglobin.
  • Hemoglobin is very reactive with carbon monoxide gas. Here, in given case carbon monoxide gas was generated and because room was closed so carbon monoxide did not escaped.
  • Therefore, it got reacted with hemoglobin which is present in human body and form carboxyhemoglobin which blocks the transfer of oxygen to our heart and other body parts thus, eventually person die due to suffocation.
  • This is why it is not preferred to light up a sigadai in a closed room.
  • So, death will be due to formation of Carbon monoxide gas.

Hence, Option(4) is correct i.e. Carbon monoxide.
