Sakshi wants to fence the garden measuring 10m by 12m in front of her house leaving a space of 4m for gate on one side. Find the cost of fencing at Rs.70 per metre

Fencing is always done on the boundary of the field . Therefore ,we will take out the perimeter to find the length of the wire she need for fencing .

Perimeter of the rectangular field =

2( l+b)

= 2× ( 10+ 12 )

=2×22

=44m

She also needs to leave 4m of the fencing for the gate . Therefore , we will deduct 4m of the wire .

=44-4

=40 m

40m is the total length of the wire needed by her for fencing her garden excluding the gate .

Cost of fencing = 70 × 40

=Rs. 2800

Therefore, the cost of fencing will be 2800 rs.
