Here's the solution:
Let the commone ratio be x
therefore there saley becomes 2x and 3x
Since there is an increment in the salary of 4000
New salary of Ravi = 2x + 4000
New salary of Sumit = 3x + 4000
According to Question
2x + 4000 / 3x +4000 == 40 / 57
on cross multiplying we get
114x + 228000 = 120x + 160000
120x -114x = 228000 -160000
6x = 68000
3x = 34000
Summit's present salary :
3x + 4000 = 34000 + 4000 = 38000
Therefore Summit's present salary will be 38000.

New salary of Sumit = 3x + 4000

120x -114x = 228000 -160000

3x = 34000
Summit's present salary :
3x + 4000 = 34000 + 4000 = 38000
Therefore Summit's present salary will be 38000.
