In the feudal era the State becomes less powerful. There is usually no strong unified central government. The most significant economic and political functions are discharged by the feudal aristocracy.

4. Based on custom :
It was an economic society organized by tradition. Tradition solved the economic problem. Tradition directed men to their tasks. Tradition also regulated the distribution of social rewards.

a) The land assigned to nobles was directly ruled by them with the condition of providing military assistance at the time, it needed.

b) These middlemen were responsible for collecting taxes in the area assigned to them.

c) The nobles were called by different names in different regions like zamindars, taluqdars, deshmukhs, jagirdar, etc.

d) It makes the central authority weak and sometimes even eliminated by feudal lords.
